When Ashley first contacted me about photographing her birth, I was thrilled. I soon found out she was an amazing Olympia area newborn photographer which made me even more excited, and then, when she told me she was expecting a little girl and naming her Amelia (the same name as our little girl) I knew we would be friends. I just love it when things flow so organically. She and her husband were so easy to talk with and super funny too. I couldn’t wait to photograph their birth. When miss Amelia finally decided to make her appearance, it was quick, very quick. So quick that when I walked into the room, she was being placed on Ashley’s chest. It’s a feeling no photographer ever wants to experience. THANKFULLY nothing had been done yet and I was able to get all of her “firsts” on camera, phew! Ashley and Matt are going to be fantastic parents, they worked so well together and you could just feel all of the love in the room. Be sure and check out Ashley’s work here and see the magic she works on her new baby girl!

Congratulations to you both!

I was there the second Ryder took his first breath, and to think he’s 3 years old now not only makes me feel old, but it also makes me so happy that I’ve gotten to watch him grow into such a handsome little boy in front of my camera. Before you know it, I’ll be taking his senior pictures 🙂 But let’s not rush anything now! Happy Birthday Ryder (and Go Hawks!)

Laura is a special friend of mine, not only do we both share the love of birth photography, but when she moved up here from Colorado nearly a year ago, we hit it off instantly. I was thrilled to have a new neighbor just up the road. The first time we met, it was like we were reunited again even though we’d never met. She’s just so easy to talk to, encouraging, patient, and hilarious! Laura and Sam already have an adorable little girl named Tessah, she is so full of energy and spunk! When Laura told me she was pregnant, my first reaction was complete fear as it’s one thing to photograph the birth of a friend or fellow photographer, but when it’s another BIRTH photographer, it’s even more terrifying. Thankfully Laura was so sweet and kept telling me not to worry. Ironically, we had just gone to dinner together the night before she went into labor to go over all the plans as she was anticipating a home/water birth. The night she went into labor, I rushed to her house as she let me know things were happening very quickly. Thankfully, there was no traffic and I was the first one there. I was prepared to help catch baby, but she waited for the midwife to arrive! It was a birth like I’d never seen before. Tears of joy, singing, and laughter filled this home as sweet Lucia was born. Her big sister even got to help cut the cord. What a special evening it was, thank you Laura and Sam for allowing me to capture this beautiful home birth.2015-05-21_0014P I NIT2015-05-21_0004P I NIT2015-05-21_0015P I NIT2015-05-21_0013P I NIT2015-05-21_0005P I NIT2015-05-21_0006P I NIT2015-05-22_0003P I NIT2015-05-22_0002P I NIT2015-05-21_0008P I NIT2015-05-21_0009P I NIT2015-05-21_0010P I NIT2015-05-21_0011P I NIT

This mama and I have been friends for years as we met when we first started going to church together. Before she was pregnant, she was such an encouragement to me and we would always talk about how she couldn’t wait to have her births photographed, needless to say when she told me she was pregnant, I was over the moon! What a joy it was to watch her become a Mommy for the first time. Even though her birth didn’t go as planned, it was still so beautiful. She did a fantastic job and her husband was a wonderful coach, congratulations to you both on the birth of your beautiful baby girl!KP001P I NITKP002P I NITKP005P I NITKP003P I NITKP004P I NIT

What a joy it was to be with this wonderful couple as they welcomed baby #4! This beautiful mama is also a photographer and I was thrilled she thought of me to photograph this special day! Lauren Rae joins a big sister and 2 big brothers who were so excited to come see her at the hosptial, the littlest could not stop kissing her, it was adorable…there definitely wont be a shortage of arms wanting to snuggle her up!

Congratulations to this brand new family of 6!
