This beautiful mama just so happens to be a talented birth photographer in the Vancouver (Washington) area, and up until delivery day, we had only communicated through Facebook… however, when I walked into the delivery room to photograph her birth, it was like we had been friends for years, she was so easy going, funny, and was handling labor like a champ! I was flattered when she asked me to photograph the birth of her daughter, but instantly got a bit nervous knowing there would be a bit of a drive ahead of me as her hospital was over 2 hours away from my house. I worried I wouldn’t make it in time, or that traffic would be terrible, but thankfully the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. It was a beautiful Sunday morning, my kids were taken care of so I didn’t have to worry about babysitting, traffic was a breeze, and I sailed down there in record time (which might have been why I got pulled over on my way down, oops! Thankfully I told the officer where I was going and not only did he let me go, but he said “good luck” too!) When I arrived, we had some time to kill, so we just spent it getting to know each other, laughing, and preparing for delivery. When it was time to push, the family was called, and we were all over the moon excited to meet this sweet girl. Bryn came out weighing 7lbs 8oz and was covered in vernix. Up until this point I hadn’t seen a baby come out so “creamy” before, it was amazing. She was so healthy and beautiful. I got to stick around for big brother to show up and as you can tell by the photos, he was just smitten with her! It was a wonderful delivery and I was honored to capture this special day for such an adorable family! Congratulations Stacey, Luke, and big brother Landon…2016-02-24_0001P I NIT2016-02-24_0002P I NIT2016-02-24_0003P I NIT2016-02-24_0004P I NIT2016-02-24_0005P I NIT2016-02-24_0006P I NIT2016-02-24_0007P I NIT2016-02-24_0008P I NIT2016-02-24_0009P I NIT2016-02-24_0010P I NIT2016-02-24_0011P I NIT2016-02-24_0012P I NIT2016-02-24_0013P I NIT2016-02-24_0014P I NIT2016-02-24_0015P I NIT2016-02-24_0016P I NIT2016-02-24_0017P I NIT2016-02-24_0018P I NIT2016-02-24_0019P I NIT2016-02-24_0020P I NIT2016-02-24_0021P I NIT2016-02-24_0022P I NIT2016-02-24_0023P I NIT2016-02-24_0024P I NIT2016-02-24_0025P I NIT2016-02-24_0026P I NIT

To say birth is unpredictable is an understatement. It could possibly be one of the hardest parts of my job, timing it all out perfectly takes mad skills, and let me tell you this, when babies want to come out, they will come out when they’re ready, even if that means I’m still 20 minutes away from the hospital. It’s the worst feeling ever when you get a text as you’re driving that mama is now pushing. Those are the moments when you wish you had your own helicopter and reserved parking spot at the hospital. That’s exactly what happened this time around. While I was super bummed to have missed Cash’s grand entrance, we were still able to get some sweet photos. Their surprise baby was another boy, adding to the 2 big brothers who were on their way! I am so happy I got to be there as they arrived and got to meet him for the first time. We have since become friends and I was elated when she as if she could borrow my youngest daughter for a video she was making to launch her new book, have I mentioned she’s an amazing children’s book author?? Go check out her book here I hope she has more exciting ventures up her sleeve, and if another baby was one of them, that would be amazing!

So here’s my throwback Thursday edition of Mr. Cash…taken back in March of 2014 🙂2016-01-14_0001P I NIT2016-01-14_0002P I NIT2016-01-14_0003P I NIT2016-01-14_0004P I NIT2016-01-14_0005P I NIT2016-01-14_0007P I NIT2016-01-14_0017P I NIT2016-01-14_0016P I NIT2016-01-14_0009P I NIT2016-01-14_0010P I NIT2016-01-14_0011P I NIT2016-01-14_0012P I NIT2016-01-14_0013P I NIT2016-01-14_0014P I NIT2016-01-14_0015P I NIT

I met this sweet mama a few years ago when we were in a few of the same photography groups online. She is an amazing photographer herself and I was honored to be asked to capture the birth of her sweet boy. It was a beautiful birth; done completely natural, with so much concentration and patience. I remember how empowered I felt when I left. She was just…incredible. I am so sad that they have now moved to Oregon but am thankful for social media so I can keep up with them and all the adorable photos she posts of Bennett! I can hardly believe he will be 2 in just a couple of months!
Congratulations to you both.

You know you’re behind on blogging when this sweet family has already welcomed another baby into the world since this birth. LOL
My biggest goal this year is to catch up in a big way. I have so many beautiful birth stories that I just can’t wait to share with you! This was from back in 2014 so needless to say, I have some work to do! I love getting to photograph my friends births, it’s even more fun when they don’t know what they’re having, I feel like I get to be “in” on the surprise…yet another perk of the job! I got to photograph their first birth, a little boy, back in 2012, so when Amanda delivered another little boy this time around, it was just as special because now he had a brother to grow up with. What a fun childhood that will be! The fun part about this birth is that her husband got to deliver him, I think he was nervous the baby would be too slippery, but he did a great job and was relieved when he was safely in her arms! Stay tuned for yet another fun birth story from this family, will baby #3 be a boy or a girl?? I can’t wait to share photos from that special day…

Congratulations friends!2016-01-11_0001P I NIT2016-01-11_0002P I NIT2016-01-11_0017P I NIT2016-01-11_0004P I NIT2016-01-11_0023P I NIT2016-01-11_0021P I NIT2016-01-11_0022P I NIT2016-01-11_0006P I NIT2016-01-11_0009P I NIT2016-01-11_0011P I NIT2016-01-11_0013P I NIT2016-01-11_0018P I NIT2016-01-11_0016P I NIT2016-01-11_0019P I NIT2016-01-11_0020P I NIT2016-01-11_0015P I NIT

I met Chelsea this past school year as our daughters were in the same class together! We have since become friends on Facebook and I was thrilled when she asked me to take some family photos for her. They are new to the area so I was eager to take her to one of my favorite places to shoot, she also thought it would be fun to do a sports theme as well. Her kiddos are huge Seahawks fans while Chelsea and her husband root for the Packers (boo.) Ha. It was a whole lot of fun and I had a great time! Welcome to Orting you guys, we are so happy to have you and your adorable family!
